Beeswax candles for Candlemas - See Candlemaking tab
February 2nd marks the religious holiday called Candlemas which means "Candle Mass". On this day in history, beeswax candles that were blessed by a priest were meant for use in the home throughout the year. These candles are placed in windows that ward off storm.
According to the Roman Catholics, the feast called the Feast of Presentation of the Lord references beeswax candles and the purification of the Virgin Mary. It is also said that Pope John Paul II connected the feast day with the renewal of religious vows.
